C&S 60 gets a nose job :)

I can't tell how refreshing it is to see so much work going on to save and beautify remaining C&S equipment.  Not only is the Como depot being dedicated this summer, but No. 60 in Idaho Springs is getting some lovely TLC.

The Colorado & Southern Railway Society recently posted the following to Facebook:

60's Smokebox has been completely needle scaled and repainted. The first photo represents the look of the smokebox was finished being painted with the graphite based paint mix.

The second photo is the smokebox after the mix dried which took over a day. After drying the surface had hardened and needed to be buffed with a steel wool to bring out the graphite luster. The close up photo shows the smokebox door after an hour of buffing the graphite which lightened the color considerably....When finished this color is meant to represent the accurate look of C&S locomotives in service.
